It is with a heavy heart that I must report Jasper has passed onto the Rainbow bridge.
Jasper and Amber
Jasper, our senior miniature poodle, became a client of Carolyn several years ago. We had won a gift certificate (Wet Nose Massage) at a fund-raising event by the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts (APCSM). Jasper has been troubled by luxating patellas since birth. He loved agility, but we had to discontinue it. He was also getting arthritis. His first session with Carolyn went well as the two became acquainted and he responded well to her massage. Jasper is now 14.5 years old and looks forward to her visits. He will wait at the door for her and runs to the living room, eager for his massage. Sometimes his 11.5 year old sister, Amber, will try to slip between him and Carolyn for a quick massage. We believe that Jasper’s job as a therapy dog for Therapy Dogs International, Inc. (TDI) has been extended by the massage therapy he receives. Jasper loves doing therapy work; he gets all excited when Lynn puts on his TDI bandana and official badge. At a young age, he began visiting local nursing homes accompanied by Lynn. When his legs started bothering him, Lynn began looking into other types of therapy work. We were very fortunate to find work for him at the library. The staff at the library were fantastic and Jasper excelled at listening and offering comfort to the children (the most laid-back, gentle, and affectionate dog). The children look forward to his visits and take turns reading books to him. In November, he will be retiring from the children’s reading program at the Bridgewater Library. Jasper and we are most thankful to Carolyn for helping to extend his time at the library. "
